Bad behaviour with login process with non existent users

If you try to logging with a username that does no exists the system automatically presents you with the registration form.
What I think would be best is to show a login error mesage saying the user does not exists and then show the login page where the user can select if he wants to try again, register himself or use a social network account.

Hi Gerard
Many version ago we showed an error message but then we decided to simplyfi the registration process and so we automatically redirect the user to login form.

Best regards

The problem here is the following:

We give a user/password with an specific product to a client, if he fails to enter the correct username without any warning he is presented with a form asking for a bunch of information we already now about him. This is not the expected behaviour.

What if you add a checkbox inside the domain with (or similar):

"If the user enters a non existing username present him with the registration form."

If we do not check this box and the user enters a non valid username the system shows an error an returns him to the login APP.

Hi Gerard
If don't want to have the automatically redirection to the login form if an user enter a wrong username, you have to choose "with operator registration" as "Authentication mode" inside the domain. In this way you will have an error message if the user enter a wrong username or password.
If you choose "With registration by the user" or "with registration by the user not password" as "Authentication mode", the user that enter a wrong username will be redirected to the registration form

Best regards

Hello,

I'd also like to add my support to Gerards suggestion of having an option to disable automatic redirection to the registration page, this does cause a number of support calls when a user has simply entered their details wrong when trying to login (which is easy to do on a mobile device).

Best wishes,

Dean

Hi Dean,

I see your suggestion.
I'll forward it to developers and then, if they decide to do something about it, I'll let you know.

Best Regards.

Hi all,

about your suggestion our developers decided to add, in one of the next HSNM version, an option that, if enabled, will provide an error to users that enter wrong credentials.

Best Regards.
