DEVICES LOST CONNECTION, MODE STAND-BY

by joy022 » 13 Jul 2018, 12:43

We have a big problem in a big hotel.
After a week of working with the hotspot, all people reports the same problem.
The users can login in the portal without problem and use internet ,.
But when the device is not in use, start an special of mode of stand-by situation, and lost the connection to internet.
In the moment you want o use again the device ask a new confirm the login, you can connect again,
and in this moment you begin to receive all the notifications together, whattsap, email, that you haven´t received
during the stand-by situation,
All reports lots of disconnections, in mode stand-by of the connection.
Other situation is the following: Inside the hotel the coverage its excellent, but when go out and start in mode 4G, and suddently it start
to receive all the notifications don´t received.
The hotel don´t want follow with this situation and we disconnect by the moment.
And now without hotspot all it´s perfect, like always, Your device is connected all time during hours, days, without the commented disconnections.
Please, we ask a solution,
Thanks.

Hi Raimundo
The user could be disconnected/logged out for these reasons:

1) The device lost the wifi network
2) The user reached the credit (time or traffic) limit)
3) The user reached the Session-Timeout set on Policy
4) The user reached the Idle-Timeout set on Policy
5) The gateway is restarted
6) Manual disconnection by the user
7) etc

In your case the user probably is disconnected because
1) you have set an idle-timeout on the policy
2 ) you have set a session-timeout on the policy
3) the device lost the wifi connection

If you want to have the user always logged-in you have to configure properly:
a) the policy inside HSNM
b) the credit (traffic or time) on the product
c) the radius keep-alive timeout on the gateway

For further information I suggest you to read the HSNM Administration Manual

Best regards

Hi, It was selected 60 min in session and 3 min in idle, only.
I need 1 week, I will try with 10080 minutes, in both cases.
Thank you very much,

The problems follows. We have detect the devices iphone have disconnections from the wifi, when the device lock.
And during this moment the mobile don´t receive notifications, whassaps for example.
When the mobile, unlock the screen, the notifications are received.
We try all the parameter : idle time, keep alive, dhcp, session, and nothing.
Do you have any idea of this problem?
The hotel of 300 bedrooms use many iphones and all people reports this problem.
When we turn off the hotspot service, and all work well.

Hi joy022,

what you are facing is not related to HSNM configuration or Gateway configuration.

For sure is something related to devices configuration.

For example, talking about whatsapp and iPhone, you can see this URL: https://faq.whatsapp.com/en/iphone/20950116/

Best Regards.

Maybe the problem is in the iphones, whassap or email, don´t arrive when the device is with locked the screen or sleep mode.
I find this link:

https://monal.im/blog/ipod-ipad-disconn ... reen-lock/

And now by the moment the problem is solved, the iphone wake up of sleeping mode and received them.
The idle time start to 0, with every notifications, perfect.
