Chrome not detecting log on is required

Hi,
I had an install at a client, was not HSNM related. The client provided me a lodge to spend the night so I had the opportunity to use the system a little more than I normally do. I've noticed that Chrome does not see that it is required to log in (again). Going to a URL did not show the portal it gave a network error. When I opened Firefox I was prompted to login again.
I use OSX with Chrome 74.0.3729.169
HSNM 6.1.72
Anybody knows how this works?

Hi Johan,

what network error did you have? Did you try to open an https URL through chrome?

You said "again". How did you connect the first time? was there CNA?

Hi,

I thought it was a connection reset, but I'm not sure. I tried several urls http and https pages. Yes there was a CNA the first time.

Hi Johan,

I don't exactly know but, I think there was something related to chrome version and/or something with the wifi connection in that particular moment.

Indeed, you closed chrome, opened firefox and you were redirected to the portal.

In Firefox not redirected to the portal but there is a message in the top of the screen.

Hi Johan,

in you first post you said that by opening firefox you were prompted to the login. Now you are telling me that by opening firefox you aren't redirected to the login but there is a message.

What message do you have?

Firefox shows a message in the top of the screen that a portal is detected: https://blog.mozilla.org/wp-content/upl ... 68x606.png

Just found out what the problem is, there is no redirect when a https page is requested. Almost no site is without https so this is a problem.

Hi Johan,

not all the gateways are able to redirect https request to the welcome portal. It's not a HSNM problem. It'r related to the gateway.

Hi Johan,

sorry but there is nothing to elaborate. As I mentioned the problem is related to the Gateway brand/model. Mikrotik is not able to redirect https request yet. Other brands, that we support, are able to do it.

There is nothing we can do about it.
