split broadcast domain

by khGAP » 16 Nov 2018, 12:18

Hi,

we'd like to split our WIFI-broadcast domain in the near future, because it gets huge.
How can we achieve this with HSNM and Miktroik devices (of coure with VLANs, but how to configure the HSNM and MT)?

In the documentation I found nothing about this topic? Do we need a second Mikrotik router or can this one router handle? Is there a script for this? How to design the DHCP scopes? Overlapping or DHCP relay? The user will roam between the networks? Is a single-sign-on possible?

Any thoughts about this topic?

Hi khGAP,

you didn't find anything in the HSNM documentation because what you asked has nothing to do with HSNM itself.
It's all about the way you want to configure your network.

The only thing to take into consideration is that you can have one HSNM domain and one or more Gateways under that domain.
In the domain only the type of authentication and products for users are configured. All that is related to the hotspot network is configured at Gateway level.
At Gateway level you can do whatever you prefer by using HSNM Gateway options and, if you need something particular, using Mikrotik custom commands.

Best Regards.
