Hello,

I have added a mac address on gateway, but the user is still prompted to login, do I have to run commands on Mikrotik router after adding?

Hi Manish
You have to simply wait that the script, inside the Mikrotik Gateway, called "IPBinding" run. In case try to manually execute and check if you see error in the Mikrotik LOG.

Best regards

Yeah I can't get this to work right. I actually had to disable the MikroTik Scheduler for that script and manually add the MAC to IP Binding Bypass of my MikroTik. HSNM definately needs work in the Manual addition of devices to it's system. I hope they work to get this better.

I really wish there was a place under a user account to input a MAC manually. This would associate the MAC to that account and use it's paid plan settings. Right now we have to manually add the MAC to the IP Binding Bypass. Then we have to manually lock their DHCP binding so the mac gets the same IP every time. Then we have to add a manual simple queue to queue that device so it isn't getting speeds wide open. It's a HUUUGGGE pain point for us. We do alot of RV parks with semi permanent residents who want to use a Roku or Smart TV. I can't wait until HSNM integrates an easy way to make this work.

Hi crzygrn1,

IP Binding it's not designed to provide connection to user considering paid plan settings.

It's designed just to bypass the hotspot service and so provides direct connection without any limitation.

If you want user to be authenticated through its device's MAC address and use paid plan assigned to user, you can use the HSNM option called "Authentication via MAC Address" (see attached image). You have only to manually create an user from the HSNM backend setting its device's MAC Address both as username and password and setting a product to the user.

Once you have enabled "Authentication via MAC Address" option, a new settings will be added, through the WalledGarden script, in your mikrotik gateway (see attached image)
As soon as user's device connects to the Hotspot wifi network, a radius authentication request will be sent and, if there will be a created user with that MAC address in the HSNM, it will be automatically authenticated and the device will be able to surf immediately.

If there won't be an user with that MAC address, and the device has a browser, user will be redirected to the welcome portal for a standard registration.

We added this feature in order to have a similar situation like the one you have by using the Mikrotik IP Binding section, but with the possibility to see the User connection logs and so seeing when and for how long the device has been connected.

Best Regards.
