is it possible to create a custom app from Gmail?

Can you explain better what did you mean please? Do you want to have a custom APP that point to Gmail site?
If yes, pay attention that some sites (like Facebook, Google, etc) cannot be viewed inside an IFRAME

When you add a CustomApp with an external URL, HSNM automatically adds to the walled-gardens the URL defined on the APP but, in case of gmail, surely it use others subdomains (for example ajax.googleapis.com or fonts.gstatic.com) that you must manually enter to the walled-garden list.
To understand which are the sub domains used by gmail, I suggest you to use your browser inspector.
