As of May 2022, Google phased out the possibility of using the account master password for the Gmail SMTP service.
To get around this new security policy, one must:
1) access the link https://myaccount.google.com/ and authenticate with your credentials
2) click on security
3) scroll to the middle of the page and click on 2-step verification (which must be activated)
4) scroll to the bottom of the page and click on app passwords
5) select other and type in a name of your choice
6) copy the password generated by the system.
The parameters for sending via SMTP will be as follows:
SMTP Server Address: smtp.gmail.com
Secure Connection for SMTP: yes with TLS
SMTP Port: 587
Enable SMTP Authentication: Yes
SMTP Username: Your Email address
SMTP Password: Your newly generated password
