If your HSNM is a virtual machine, you can try to increase the CPU's cores and the RAM of you virtual machine but obviously, if you need the users' traffic LOG, there is nothing to do in order to decrease the bandwidth usage.
What you can do is to run the virtual machine in a phisical server with an high HD performance in order to increase the R/W performance
