High RAM consumption

by humzakhan » 26 Dec 2019, 07:01

Hi HSNM Team,
We are using 4Gb RAM for HSNM VM. After updating to version 6.1.89 , system is consuming full RAM and causing delay in splash page as well as Dashboard loading. Please guide if we are suppose to increase the system specifications. Image is attached for reference.

Regards,
Humza

Hi Humza
Please try to downgrade and then upgrade again your HSNM (I advise you to install the latest STABLE version 6.1.90), because this kind of issue was fixed on ver. 6.1.82:

Version 6.1.82 (Stable)
1) Fix If there were more than fifty domains with free access, the users of some domains could not login.
2) Fix The value of the used RAM was higher because it also considered the cache.

Or if you prefer you can install the version 7.x (is not STABLE) but it has a lot of new features like a RAM's used grapg of the latest 4 hours, SWAP memory usage, ecc. See HSNM ver 7.x change LOG to have more informations

Anyway I think that, in your case, the problem is the high I/O disk usage probably due a high use of swap memory.

P.S.-> which version do you have before the upgrade?

Best regards

Hi
You have also an high network traffic. Did you do only an upgrade before to have the issue? Because this is very strange, it seeams that your HSNM has an high usage.
If possible please send by mail to HSNM support an URL to reach your HSNM in order to check. Please open both SSH and HTTP port.

Thanks

Hi Umzan
Thanks for the info. I've just checked and the RAM used by the system is slow (around 1 gbyte)
RAMUsage.jpg
It means that the bug fixed on 6.1.82 is not really fixed and so the RAM tile on dashboard doesn't show the real RAM usage: sorry for this. Anyway our developers are manually making the fix directly on your HSNM so in a couple of minutes you will see the real RAM usage.
The BIG problem that make your HSNM very slow is that you have an high network traffic and you should investigate why....

Thanks

Best regards

Thanks Team,
Network traffic seems to be OK as we have around 2200 concurrent users. Please suggest if any changes required for this much traffic on the virtual appliance.

Hi Umzan
Understand but I think it is very strange to have around 20 Mbps to HSNM.....or do you have a lot of GWs that are sending traffic LOG to it?
In any case I suggest you to check...

Thanks

Best regards

Hi Umzan
I've just done a double check on your HSNM and my forecast was right: the traffic is generated by the Gw's LOGs in fact, as you can see below, the traffic is present on port 1514 that is the SysLOG port

Hi,
We must need to maintain logs, nothing can be done in this. Any solution to improve the overall system performance?
